What Are The Psychological Disorders In A Depressed Person?

Psychological disorders are one of the major reasons for depression. Downswings or sadness in mood is general reaction to setbacks, disappointments and struggles of life. Most people utilize the word ‘depression’ for explaining these kinds of feelings or emotions but depression contains a lot deeper meaning than just sadness. Some individuals illustrate depression as a living in a black or dark hole or containing a feeling of approaching doom. Though, few depressed people do not feel disappointed and sad at all, as they can feel empty, apathetic and lifeless or men in general may sense aggressive, restless and angry behavior.

Whatever the symptoms and signs, depression is diverse from general sadness in which it overwhelm the day to day life, interfering ability to do work, eat, have fun, study and hampers sleep of an individual. The feelings of worthlessness, helplessness and hopelessness are unrelenting and intense, with little relief, if any. There are a number of Psychological Disorders associated with depression and other mental illness such as anxiety disorder, factitious disorder, somatization disorder, dissociative disorder, bipolar disorder and many others. Few of the disorders are mentioned below:

Anxiety Psychological Disorders:

Anxiety is not always equipped in depressive disorders but many times, it lurks under the surface. However, real depression distinguishes from anxiety disorders in which depressed moods are generally its most general symptoms, while anxiety is the initial sign of genuine anxiety disorder. The types of anxiety disorders present are – post traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, phobic disorder, GAD (Generalized anxiety disorder), panic disorder, OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) and so on. These disorders affect most of the women two times, as often these do men. Most of the researches and studies depict that individuals with depression frequently experience signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders. The disorders that remain untreated may cause unessential impairment and sufferings for both the patient and his/her family members.



Mania Psychological Disorders:

Most of the people are suffering from mania depressive disorders. In these cases, individuals feel very active, excited, impulsive and talkative for a period of a week to a month. In a number of mania cases, individuals are abnormally confident and happy but some individuals are irritable and edgy. Manic individuals appear to contain limitless energy as they are driven in nature and do not require much more amount of time for sleep at night, only a few hours can satisfy their sleep.

In hypomania, a mild form of mania, the individuals may be too much productive and innovative at work. Individual become psychotic in its severe form. In severe form, the individuals lose the capability of thinking directly and making true judgments and may suffer from hallucinations and delusions. People who are suffering from manic depressive disorder tend to be very aggressive, appealing and impulsive that frequent consequences of spending large amounts of money, drinking too much, trouble with the rules and sexual promiscuity.

Bipolar or Manic Depressive Psychological Disorders:

Bipolar disorder is one of the depressive Psychological Disorders that obtain its title from the fact that an individual suffering from bipolar disorder experience two extremities – continuous emotion originating from mania at one end while tremendous to harsh depression at the other end. In many cases, an individual rotates between these two extremes over a large interval such as days, weeks or months and with durations of obvious ordinariness in between. Throughout the manic phase, the individual show agitation, high emotions where everything appears possible, high amount of energy with little obvious requirements for sleep, irrationality and an overflow of thoughts coming from one’s mind, one after another.

Throughout the depressive phase, the reverse is manifest such as difficulty in starting an activity, little energy, serious depression and slowed thinking or idea processes. Irrationality is again found and the individual may think that he/she has done some of the horrible things for which they are going to be punished.
